The AOS Renaissance

Welcome!

Feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns at [email protected], or by contacting us on Discord.

Welcome to the AOS Renaissance!

This campaign is dedicated to showing our love for the Kelvin Timeline and bullying convincing Paramount to give us a fourth AOS movie. In this zine, we are hoping to collect submissions of your art, cosplays, and fan fictions that showcase your love for the AOS universe! We want this zine to be a fun place where creators can share their creative works for the Kelvin Timeline, build community with other fans, and show Paramount there is interest in a fourth movie. This zine will be free and available digitally (though we aren't entirely ruling out a printed option). We hope you will join us in the collaborative effort that is the AOS Renaissance!General Rules for this Zine
★ This zine is PG-13 and SFW. We do not allow explicit sex, violence, or gore.
★ This zine does not tolerate pedophilia, incest, or bestiality.
★ Crossovers with TOS and SNW are fine (these are currently the only permissible crossovers), but please keep your work AOS-centric. On that note, we do not allow OC's (original characters) to be the center of the submission, but background characters are okay.
★ Unless it is asked for, or you are a beta reader, please do not give criticism when people post their work. If you have been asked to give feedback, keep your criticisms civil.
★ We encourage you to submit new works, but older works are also acceptable. However, if you submit new work for the zine, please do not post it publicly.
★ Your work is subject to review and, while unlikely, may be rejected. If your submission is rejected, you will be notified with an explanation and, if desired, offered guidance on how to get it accepted.
★ We encourage tagging Paramount and actors in your works and posts, but please refrain from spamming them (no tag-bombing)!
★ Multiple submissions are acceptable, but if you are going to submit more than one piece to the zine, please try to condense your works into one submission.
★ Whenever you’re posting your AOS-centric works, please use the #AOSR tag!
★ If submitting cosplay, you agree to have your picture/face published in a digital format (and possibly printed).
★ More rules may come if the need arises, and updates will be posted accordingly.
How to Get Involved
There will be no application process for this zine! This is an open, collaborative project and we do not feel they are necessary, though all submissions are subject to be reviewed by our moderators to ensure that they meet the general terms of the zine. However, if you are participating, you must first join the discord server and introduce yourself before submitting your work. The link to the server can be found here, or on any of the AOSR media pages. When you are making a submission, please keep in mind that your work should be AOS-centric and rated PG-13 (SFW), and what you can draw is not limited to just characters as long as it does not violate the rules. We want as many people involved as possible! If participating in the zine too big of a commitment for you, never fear! You can still get involved by interacting with us on our social media accounts, tagging us or using the hashtag #AOSR on your posts, or joining the Discord server!
We highly recommend you follow us on our socials, where we will host weekly interactions. There, you can freak out about AOS with others in the community! We will be having fun prompts once a week to get the conversation started.Theme Runs
Theme runs will last two weeks and will run throughout the course of the campaign, starting August 29th, 2022 and ending April 24th, 2023. There will be a two week reprieve between each theme to allow time to work on zine specific submissions. We encourage those who participate in the theme runs to post their pieces publicly and tag the AOSR socials and use the hashtag #AOSR! If there is a piece you have created for a theme run you would like to submit to the zine, you may do so, but we ask that like other zine submissions that it is not posted publicly. You are not obligated to complete every single theme run, nor is the completion of these themes mandatory for zine entry! Fan fictions created for theme runs can be submitted to our AO3 collection as well. The purpose of the theme runs are to generate momentum and interest on social media, so the more people participating, the better!
What you can Submit

When you are finished with your submission, you can use this Google Form to submit. We will review your work to make sure it fits the parameters of this zine. Please make sure the work you submit is polished and complete. If we deem a fic unsuitable for the zine, we may ask you to make revisions or may reject it outright. Meet your moderators!

Blair || @blairamok
Moderator role: Art submission reviewer, Discord mod
About me: Hi there, my name is Blair! I’ve been a digital artist for about 15 years now and a Star Trek fan for nearly just as long. I’m a James T. Kirk stan first and foremost, and a human second. Currently, I work full time in healthcare but in my spare time I love to read Star Trek books and fan fiction, and draw so much Spirk it makes my eyes hurt. I dabble in cosplay too.
What AOS means to me: AOS means a lot to me because it's what got me into Star Trek. Because of that, I have met some incredible people and made some amazing friends, and I owe so much to these movies— my favorite one is Beyond! I’m standing on the doorstep of Paramount Pictures every day until they give us AOS 4.
Brandi || Tumblr: @trekkingwonders, Twitter: @trekkingwonders
Moderator role: Tumblr, Instagram, Discord Mod
About me: Hey y’all! Most of my time is spent daydreaming about Chris Pine characters, but I’m also working towards getting a Master’s in English and my teaching certification. Currently working as a substitute teacher, I do a lot of reading and writing in my spare time, and am trying to pick back up lost hobbies like roller skating and playing the piccolo.
What AOS means to me: Like many, AOS was where I started on my Trek journey, and no matter how many series I watch it remains the one I come back to with the fondest feelings and best memories. Heck, I like Beyond so much I used to loop it any time I was waiting for the bus or had time between classes. I so dearly hope that we get AOS 4, not only so I can see my favorite characters return for more adventures, but also so I can make memories with my utterly wonderful friends. (And, just IMAGINE the fanfic/art that would come from it… it’s a NEED!!!)
Borb || @borbtrek
Moderator role: Graphic designer, IT support
About me: Hi I’m Borb and you’ve probably seen me posting a bunch of Zachary Quinto pictures or crying over Spock.
What AOS means to me: AOS introduced me to Star Trek, and Beyond especially holds a special place in my heart. I saw it during a horrible time in my life and just seeing such an optimistic outlook on the future with found family in space?? Gave me so much hope when I had very little.
Jess || Tumblr: @jericho-jess, Twitter: @jerichojessart
Moderator role: Discord Mod, Submission Reviewer
About me: Hello! I'm Jess! I'm an Australian artist who's only just gotten into Star Trek within the past year but it has very quickly taken over my life!! I'd say my favourite character is Bones but really all three of our triumvirate mean the world to me!! In my free time I'm taking care of my five pets (yeah) and generally doing something Star Trek related!!
What AOS means to me: The AOS films brought a new life to Trek, taking it from 'the boring Star Wars' to an easily approachable staple in science fiction television. AOS had provided such an amazing gateway into TOS and the rest of the franchise, and I am so thankful for that! While I didn't start with AOS, I hold it near and dear to my heart at the same level as TOS. My favourite AOS movie is Beyond, but I love all of them a ton!!
Kailey || Tumblr: @vulcanhothands, Twitter: @theyregayjim
Moderator role: fic submission review editor, going through submissions, Discord Mod
About me: Hello, my name is Kailey! By day I am working for my English degree and by night I am freaking out about star trek online. One thing about me? Kirk and Chekov own my heart and soul. I don’t write or make art but I am here to offer as much help as I can!
What AOS means to me: AOS is what solidified my joy in star trek!!! It was just such a fresh take on beloved characters and you could feel the love put into them by the actors. I would love to see AOS 4 soon because the story doesn’t feel complete yet and a 4th could tie it all together!! My favorite movie of AOS is Beyond!
Kasey|| Tumblr: @captainkaseykirk, Twitter: @cptnkaseykirk
Moderator role: Twitter manager, fic submissions reviewer, Discord mod
About me: Hello! My name is Kasey, and I am a Trekkie first, Ph.D. student second, and real person third. If you’ve interacted with the AOS Twitter, chances are that was me! When I’m not obsessing over ST, I’m nose deep in academic articles. I’m a big Montgomery Scott girl, and I am going to do everything in my power to push the Uhotty agenda (Scotty/Uhura).
What AOS means to me: I found the AOS movies by chance (thanks universe) during Covid-19 and immediately fell in love with the franchise. Aside from the joy Trek brings me, as a political scientist, I’m fascinated by its sociopolitical commentary. Without AOS, I never would have discovered Star Trek. My favorite movie is Star Trek (2009)!
